3 Steps to a Spring Fresh Looking Skin

Sylvie HewettUncategorized2 Comments

Bedroom cupboards, bathroom and pantry drawers ..all ready for the big SPRING clean.. But what about your SKIN?

How about doing a DIY 3 step Skin spring cleaning together, which will boost your self-confidence and give you that extra little spring in your step.

Just remember, to adjust your body with longevity in mind (we do not like the word Anti-ageing).. results will not be seen overnight. The results will however contribute to lasting, youthful skin and quality of life.

I mention this first because I honestly believe DIET is the most crucial foundational building block for a skin you are not shy of living in and with. What you eat shows not just on the hips, but also on your largest living, breathing organ…your skin.

An anti-inflammatory diet helps a great deal and if you have any food allergies, remember to eliminate the triggers. It could be something as simple as a tomato that’s messing up your skin!

An easy recipe for the whole family to enjoy:

Ingredients

5 Free range eggs
1 cup natural applesauce
½ cup coconut flour
2-3 TBSP cinnamon – NON radiated
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
¼ cup coconut oil
2 TBSP honey / maple or other sweetener of choice

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
Use coconut oil to grease a muffin pan.
Mix up all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until well mixed. (I prefer the easy way out and use an electric hand blender for oils to mix well)
Let the mixture just sit for 5min. You will see how thick the mixture gets.
Only then you spoon into the muffin tin. Bake for 10-15min and enjoy!
You can easily change this recipe up with adding ripe banana, raisons etc..

The most obvious skin conditions e.g. rosacea, scleroderma, psoriasis, are autoimmune related. You will see dramatic changes in the skin with following an Autoimmune Paleo diet lifestyle. Basics being excluding dairy, gluten, sugars, nightshades and nuts/seeds for a period of time. Do include enough Free range omega 3 animal fats, fresh vegetables and fermented foods – not preserved. This in turn, will also assist your organs with cleansing toxins from the body which will promote youthful skin appearance.

You can do this – think of your skin, before you put something in your mouth.

As much as what your food you ingest reflects on the outside, just as much does the foods you daily feed your skin topically contribute to a youthful looking, clear complexion. Using a Bioidentical range recognized by your body as its own, and using a product containing NO water (as water topically dehydrates your skin) such as Pure Primal Eye Rewind and Moisturiser, will make your skin love you for all the nourishing Vitamins, fatty acids and minerals.

You may also want to try this recipe: – PLEASE don’t do this when in a hurry as you might take a little while to remove all the turmeric. And please don’t wear your evening gown doing this – put on your oldest paint shirt – turmeric stains. Greenkleen and Biosparkle will remove these though 😉

You will need the following:
Glass bowl
Swivel stick or spoon

Add to the bowl:
3-4 tablespoons rolled oats (ground into oat flour in food processor)
1 tablespoon manuka / or any raw honey
1/2 teaspoon non radiated turmeric
½ teaspoon non radiated ginger powder – better yet, freshly grated ginger
A squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Once all mixed up, apply to face/neck and leave on for 25min.
Jump in a warm to hot shower and wash off well.
LOVELY!

One last point to remember – if you can’t pronounce or eat your skincare ingredients – don’t feed them to your skin!

Then your Lifestyle – all the daily stressors and chemicals we are exposed to daily are toxic to the skin. This will be internal as well as external stressors – take up a relaxing hobby and be aware of your stress levels! Walking barefoot outside in the morning with fresh air streaming into your lungs. This will also encourage better sound sleep which in turn.. gives you your “beauty” sleep hours.

Natural sun exposure must not be avoided. The sun provides an array of skin-food goodness that keeps you sane! Plastic packaging leeching Xenoestrogens and Carcinogenic toxins into your food/skincare/water – we can write books on this! AVOID and do not support companies cutting corners using cheap toxic plastic containers. Back to basics using and recycling glass.

Bonus – 3 things to REMEMBER

Self-tan sprays and Lotions are a NO GO!
Sun exposure from natural sunlight is HEALTHY (in moderation)
All NATURAL skincare products are not SAFE – read your ingredients.

I have applied this turmeric & oats mask twice and it has really reduced the inflammation on my skin.

    Worth the try!

  2. Hi Sylvie

Thanks for the article. I am keen to try the tumeric mask, cana you tell me:
    1) could I make a larger batch and keep it in the fridge? How long would it last for?
    2) how many times per week would I need to use this mask for greatest effectiveness?

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
